Conductor-Performer-Recorder Player
Diederik Glorieux avoids no adventure. In his productions, he brings together young people and amateur or crip artists with specialized musicians or ensembles. As a performing musician, conductor, and composer, he allows the roles of creating and performing artist to merge as much as possible and breaks down the hierarchy among the musicians.
Composer-Sound Performer
Diederik Glorieux’s compositions are invariably an attempt to understand the world and take various forms: sound explosions, tranquil works, and playful, unpretentious, whimsical musical works. In his sound performances, he plays with the tension between clear game rules and free improvisation. The free sounds in the performances establish communication both among the musicians themselves and between the musicians and the audience.
Researcher
Between 2005 and 2022, Diederik Glorieux was the musical assistant of composer Wim Henderickx. He was closely involved in the realization of various works and productions and created several works, including Antifoon, Colors, and Visioni ed Estasi. Currently, together with the family and various partners in the cultural field, he is focusing on inventorying, preserving, and protecting the legacy of Wim Henderickx.
From September 2023, Diederik Glorieux has been appointed as a research assistant at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp. Within the research group labo XIX&XX, he is working on the project ‘Infinizio, the graphic score as a tool in the performance of Wim Henderickx’s music’.
Between October 2023 and September 2024, Diederik Glorieux, at the request of the HERMESensemble, is the chief researcher in the project ‘Legacy Wim Henderickx’. This project is also supported by the heritage library of the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp, the research group Labo XIX&XX of the same conservatoire, Cemper vzw, and Huniyāgar vzw.
Teacher
For more than two decades, Diederik Glorieux was Wim Henderickx’s right hand during the MUSICA composition stage SOUNDMINE. Composer, teacher, and inspirer Wim Henderickx guided hundreds of young composers from all corners of the world during this stage. Together with Jorrit Tamminga, he continues the stage, keeping Wim Henderickx’s educational insights and mission alive.
As a recorder, music history, music theory, and composition teacher, Diederik Glorieux is affiliated with the academies of Harelbeke (H.A.P!) and Ypres (Dé Academie).
Music Engraver
In 2019, Diederik Glorieux founded the non-profit organization Huniyāgar. An organization dedicated to music creation and music engraving.
Education
Diederik Glorieux obtained the master’s degree in music theory and composition under the guidance of Wim Henderickx, Luc Van Hove, and Christian Vereecke. Afterward, he studied recorder and choral conducting. In 2014, he won the Music Prize for Ensemble of the province of West Flanders.

Diederik Glorieux gaat geen enkel avontuur uit de weg. In zijn producties brengt hij jongeren en amateur- of cripkunstenaars samen met gespecialiseerde musici of ensembles. Als uitvoerend musicus, dirigent en componist laat hij de rollen van scheppend en uitvoerend kunstenaar zoveel mogelijk in elkaar overvloeien en doorbreekt hij de hiërarchie tussen de musici.

De composities van Diederik Glorieux zijn steevast een poging om de wereld te begrijpen en nemen uiteenlopende vormen aan: klankexplosies, verstilde werken en speelse, pretentieloze, grillige muziekwerken.
In zijn klankperformances bespeelt hij de spanning tussen duidelijke spelregels en vrije improvisatie. De vrije klanken in de performances brengen communicatie tot stand tussen zowel de musici onderling als de musici en het publiek.

Tussen 2005 en 2022 was Diederik Glorieux muzikaal assistent van componist Wim Henderickx. Hij was nauw betrokken bij de realisatie van verschillende werken en producties en heeft diverse werken gecreëerd waaronder Antifoon, Colors en Visioni ed Estasi. Momenteel richt hij, samen met de familie en diverse partners in het culturele veld, zijn aandacht op het inventariseren, bewaren en beschermen van de nalatenschap van Wim Henderickx.
Vanaf september 2023 is Diederik Glorieux aangesteld als onderzoeksmedewerker aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium van Antwerpen. Binnen de onderzoeksgroep labo XIX&XX werkt hij aan het project ‘Infinizio, de grafische partituur als tool in de uitvoering van de muziek van Wim Henderickx’.
Tussen oktober 2023 en september 2024 is Diederik Glorieux op vraag van het HERMESensemble hoofdonderzoeker in het project ‘Nalatenschap Wim Henderickx’. Dit project wordt mede ondersteund door de erfgoedbibliotheek van het Koninklijk Conservatorium van Antwerpen, de onderzoeksgroep Labo XIX&XX van hetzelfde conservatorium, Cemper v.z.w. en Huniyāgar v.z.w.
docent
Gedurende meer dan twee decennia was Diederik Glorieux rechterhand van Wim Henderickx tijdens de MUSICA-compositiestage SOUNDMINE. Componist, docent en inspirator Wim Henderickx begeleidde tijdens deze stage honderden jonge componisten vanuit alle uithoeken van de wereld. Samen met Jorrit Tamminga zet hij de stage verder en houdt zo de didactische inzichten en de missie van Wim Henderickx levendig.
Als lesgever blokfluit, muziekgeschiedenis, muziektheorie en compositie is Diederik Glorieux verbonden aan de academies van Harelbeke (H.A.P!) en Ieper (Dé Academie).

Diederik Glorieux richtte in 2019 de vzw Huniyāgar op. Een organisatie die zich toelegt op muziekcreatie en muziekgravure.
opleiding
Diederik Glorieux behaalde het meesterdiploma muziektheorie en compositie onder begeleiding van Wim Henderickx, Luc Van Hove, en Christian Vereecke. Hierna studeerde hij blokfluit en koordirectie. In 2014 won hij de Prijs Muziek voor Ensemble van de provincie West-Vlaanderen.
