This research project focuses on the critical realisation and preparation for publication of five unfinished compositions by Wim Henderickx: Rejoice, Missa Brevis, Inner Life, Accordion Concerto and Timpani Concerto. The project investigates how these works can be completed and prepared for publication based on sketches, notes and other archival materials.

Diederik Glorieux, who worked closely with Wim Henderickx as his assistant for seventeen years, brings his extensive knowledge of Henderickx’s working methods, sketches and artistic vision into this realisation process. By systematically analysing Henderickx’s sketches and notes, the project seeks to interpret the composer’s original intentions as faithfully as possible and to integrate them responsibly into the completed works.

The completed compositions are and will be performed by renowned ensembles and soloists who have been closely connected to Wim Henderickx. These performances serve not only as artistic realisations of the works, but also as an important validation of the choices made during the completion process.

The project contributes to the preservation, further accessibility and scholarly anchoring of Wim Henderickx’s musical heritage.

This research project is carried out at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp, AP University of Applied Sciences and Arts, within the LABO XIX&XX research group. Diederik Glorieux realises the project with Mathias Coppens as supervisor.
